More Delectables - Steak and Coffee

The other night I discovered a wonderful combination of seasonings for a steak.

Melt one or two tablespoons of butter in a frying pan; keep it on medium heat. Sprinkle marjoram leaf flakes over the bottom of the pan, followed by celery salt.

Flap the steak in the pan, turning it frequently. Be careful not to overcook it unless it is a New York strip steak, in which case it will remain chewy as candy no matter what you do to it.

These wonderful iced flavored coffee drinks that you can buy not so cheaply at fast food restaurants can be concocted in your kitchen. The trick is to make the mix first. The fast way: in a saucepan mix equal parts of instant coffee, dried milk, sugar and powdered cocoa; add water little by little and mix it all into a thick syrup. When all possible lumps are mixed in, add more water and heat (do not boil) the syrup. For slightly more quality use chocolate syrup, real coffee and milk.

When it's thoroughly heated remove the syrup pan from the stove. Chuck four or five ice cubes in a cup and pour the syrup over them. Depending on your preferences or diet requirements add some cream and finish by filling the cup with milk. It's delectable and once you've bought the ingedients each cup is far cheaper than stopping at Burger King.
